Out of Hours

When the surgery is closed between 6:30pm and 8:30am we use the Out of Hours Emergency Service called "Integrated Care 24 Ltd" (or "IC24")  (formerly South East Health, and, On Call Care).

IC24 is an association employing many of the local GPs; so rather than being on call consistently for each Practice it allows a smaller number of doctors to be on call for the whole of the area.  They are based at Maidstone Hospital for telephone advice and base visits when asked to attend by the doctor, but in certain circumstances they can arrange home visits.

Please remember that this system is for urgent use only and should not be used for problems that can wait for normal surgery hours. IC24 can be reached on 03000 24 24 24. All calls are recorded for legal reasons.

If you have an urgent problem out of the usual working hours for the District Nurse (for example a dressing change due over the weekend which has been forgotten) then please ring IC24.

Telephone advice can also be sought from the 111 Service who are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The telephone number is just 111.

Planned Closures

Practice Learning Times

The practice closes on several afternoons a year from 1:00pm for staff and GP learning and training.  Calls are dealt with by qualified doctors and staff at the Out of Hours Service.

Topics covered are diverse; they include reviewing complaints and significant events; basic life support training, confidentiality and consent, fire warden training,  adult and child safeguarding, conflict resolution and equality and diversity.

The time is also used for the practice team to discuss processes within the practice and any day to day practicalities which have an impact on how we deliver our services.

Feedback is always welcome.
