Dr Reed joined the Practice in 2004 and the partnership in 2006. He attended Maidstone Grammar School and studied medicine in London at The Royal Hospitals, The Royal London and St Bartholomew’s Hospitals. He was trained on the Maidstone GP Training Scheme.
He is also keen to continue the training ethos of the Practice and became accredited as a GP Trainer in 2009.
Dr Reed has experience in practising General Practice in Secure Environments and worked as a sessional GP in various HMP Prisons in Kent. He also works as Clinical Advisor to NHS England (South and South East) helping the team with investigations into concerns over other GP professional performance.
He is also a Medical Examiner at the Kent and Canterbury Hospital, scrutinising the lead up to patient’s deaths within the community, hospices and hospitals of East Kent that do not require a coroner’s investigation and advising on the administrative procedure of completing death certification.
He is an accredited GP with Extended Role in Skin Surgery and Skin Cancer Surgery, holding a once weekly Surgical session at Len Valley Practice. Within these sessions various aspects of surgery are undertaken including removal of skin lesions - both non-cancerous and cancerous, biopsies of lesions, cyst and lipoma removal, joint injection (shoulder, knee, fingers and toes), in-growing toe nail removal, and carpel tunnel injection.
Dr Reed also has experience in invasive cosmetic facial injections (anti-wrinkle injections and dermal filler) which he performs on a private basis.
